My journey into understanding Body-Focused Repetitive Disorders (BFRDs) began in 2006 when my daughter suddenly developed a compulsion after getting a mosquito bite. To help her, I started a support group and became deeply invested in learning about these disorders. Through helping my daughter, I discovered a passion for assisting others facing similar struggles, and that’s when I decided to dedicate my career to this work.
I know how painful and frustrating it can be to deal with a BFRD, especially when you’ve tried to stop and nothing seems to work. It’s even harder when people around you don’t understand why it’s so difficult—they might think it’s as simple as just stopping. But the truth is, BFRDs have an addictive nature, where what hurts you can also feel good, making it a tough cycle to break.
With specialized training in BFRD treatment and an extensive background in addiction recovery, I’m here to help. I use a proven treatment model while also taking a holistic approach that includes mindfulness and self-compassion. My goal is to help you not only move into recovery from your BFRD but also step into a new season of thriving in your life. You don’t have to face this alone.
